Robot skin? Possible sensitivity? Robowaifu Technician 09/15/2019 (Sun) 07:38:17 No.242 [Reply] [Last]

>>34724 > The body would then be dipped in a bath or sprayed with layer of fluid containing keratinocytes that would attach onto the TPU and form chemical bonds. This would then be cultured until the desired skin thickness is met and the keratinocytes would be killed via heat sterilization. Neat! >Totally having a GITS vibe with this... There are tons of issues involved with intentionally keeping living cultures in our robowaifus, but perhaps the skin is our single-best option. Thanks, Anon. :^)
I found what looks, from the abstract, to be a decent paper. "Low Cost Plastic Optical Fiber Pressure Sensor Embedded in Mattress for Vital Signal Monitoring" https://www.mdpi.com/1424-8220/17/12/2900 Combine this with the camera chip for many sensors and you have something. Noted in the link below that is high performance, very low cost. >>30980 Now I've seen these before. The LED for a light source is, I think, novel. I ran across this looking for ways to use cheap, and they are really, really, cheap, plastic fiber optic cable with LED's for a light source, and use this for a signal bus in place of wires. The glitch. It uses a slit so it's in actuality a bit of a point source. You can't cut the cable everywhere, I don't believe, and get a good usable sensor array, or maybe you can. While thinking about this I had an idea. What if you spit the plastic fiber straight down the middle lengthwise, then tied it together. So if one of the halves became misaligned it would lower the intensity. It's a bit of a kludge. You would have to position the spit perpendicular to the skin surface and if directly pushed on it would do nothing, but the misalignment of the neighboring fibers would give you an indirect location. So all the fibers around where it was pressed would be dimmed. Like a said a kludge but if you could pull it off it would be super cheap. I keep coming back to this because paired with the camera as the sensing circuit it would be so cheap...but figuring a way to do it...difficult, maybe impossible.
>>41118 Allo Grommet, nice to see you! This is a great idea. TDR is an established field, and I doubt not that it works across short distances as well. I'd be intredasted to hear more about this, insofar as we can use it for internal skellington/joint sensing for our robowaifus. Cheers Anon. :^)

What can we buy today? Robowaifu Technician 09/11/2019 (Wed) 01:41:22 No.101 [Reply] [Last]
I've stated many times on this forum my skepticism of the "robo" part of "robowaifu". The reason why is because I've owned a number of dolls, including one full size TPE sex doll, and always been very satisfied with my purchases. The "robo" will be reality within our lifetimes but simply doesn't exist today. I'm starting this thread to discuss options that exist today which don't require advanced technology, products that can already relieve our loneliness. In particular I'd like to promote one cheap, freely available, and obvious option that you may have overlooked.

If you live alone and happen to have a few grand burning a hole in your pocket, you've probably already considered buying a sex doll. It's a good purchase for the money. If you haven't bought one yet, you probably either don't live alone, don't have that kind of money, or have a moral or practical objection to sex dolls. In that case you could buy a <$50 onahole-type or fleshlight-type sex toy, but that's not a "waifu" and isn't really more satisfying than masturbating with your hand. To alleviate loneliness, you need something that you can cuddle, than you can look at and smile, that you can care for, that makes you feel that you are not alone.

It may sound cringey, even pedophilic, but I want you to seriously considering buying a <$50 child's cloth doll. I've been cuddling and sleeping with an 80cm cloth doll for the last year and she has brought me much joy and comfort. A related option is a "dakimakura" (lonely pillow), but the advantage of the cloth doll is that it resembles a real human being, with a head and arms, and therefore is more fun to cuddle. My doll has made surviving this period of peak feminism so much easier, and honestly has probably saved me from the rope.

Here's the 100cm version of the doll that I bought. For cuddling purposes, bigger is better, so I recommend the largest doll you can find.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ORWFLTW/

In this thread we can discuss sex dolls, cloth dolls, dakimakura, onaholes, and other options that exist on the market today.

>>40524 Sorry to be a party pooper, but I'm very sure that's AI. The video has that subconscious trigger, and it's very similar to the robot puppy scam ads from a few months ago. In fact, the channel names are basically the same Exposure and explanation of the "robo-pet" scam https://youtu.be/8-inLMjInn0?si=e60izzT11GGoNcDs PS, this is a good example of what I discussed about how sociopathic greed is also in China, as well as a disdain for westerners
>>40526 Heh, yeah I think you're right about that GreerTech. This type of thing is both a) doable today, and b) will flood the markets in the future. >>40526 >Sorry to be a party pooper, but I'm very sure that's AI I'm not fooled that it's some miraculous thing but...look at the price point for something that can move around and nuzzle you a little. Wheelchair Waifus Robowaifu Technician 05/12/2020 (Tue) 00:38:56 No.2983 [Reply] [Last]
Ideally our robowaifus would be MORE able than normal humans, but we just aren't there just yet. As we all know there are lots of engineering challenges to building a full sized robowaifu. One solution to these is to just build smaller waifus as >>2666 suggested, but I am assuming most of us don't want a short stack. My solution to the problems involved with balance, heating, and power requirements is just to give our prototype robowaifu crutches and a wheelchair. It would be much easier for our robowaifu to walk with crutches than on her own two legs and in the beginning she would probably only be able to walk short distances even with the crutches. An electric wheel chair would solve the issue of balance entirely. A wheel chair could also have a number of different systems and components mounted to it. Batteries, cooling fans, sensors, and processing units could all be mounted to the wheelchair, and we don't have to worry about the chair being pretty. A cripplebot, while not an ideal final product, would be great for prototyping designs and systems that could be used for later designs especially those relating to sensors, bot navigation, and movement. Our prototype could also be fully sized as well. What do you think /robowaifu/, should our first prototype be a cripple?

>>30783 Now it's my turn to be sorry. I've been spread a bit thin lately, but here I am. >Mind discussing that one a bit, Anon? I oppose artificial wombs for the same reasons that I oppose homosexual adoption and transgenderism. It's an affront to nature. Viable artificial wombs would be immediately followed by implanting said womb into some vile sodomite so that he could satisfy his perversions by squeezing some poor child out of his mutilated ass. It's abhorrent. I'm rather reverent of nature, and I feel that procreation is one of the areas where we shouldn't "play god" unnecessarily. If we are at a point where a companion robot would be capable of performing as a parent and caregiver, and I expect that to be the case in the future, then those who wish to be parents should adopt. This is to speak nothing of the metaphysical implications of parentage, but that's a more philosophical discussion than one about robots.
Open file (372.48 KB 566x467 she_is_fine.png)
>>31259 >It's an affront to nature. Having children matters. No matter what and how, if necessary. >implanting said womb You've got the wrong idea. This is completely outside of the scope. These artificial wombs refer to things outside of the human body. They would have to do insurmountable extra work to put it into a human body, I assume. That said, it not relevant and will be even less relevant in the future, since the people who are transgender won't have (many) children. The ideologues around this procreate through spreading their manipulative thoughts into new confused minds. Having fewer women in a society and making women less important will be very useful, and artificial wombs are important for that.
>>31259 Don't worry anon (at least for now), currently "artificial wombs" are growing sheeps in ziploc baggies.

Would a robot waifu spoil your artificially womb-grown son? Would it be necessary for your son to experience true adversity and have to purchase thier own waifu bot to gain the understanding that the world doesn't care for him to truly appreciate a robot waifus' love? I'm looking into a future where young men don't have to be self concious because they lack traits that traditionally allow them to find a human partner. That prospect, while real to us, may be alien to future generations of men who never had to overcome that adversity.
>>38047 Have them work customer service for a year as a right of passage, that'll knock the rose-tinted glasses off real quick.
>>38048 I've been discussing the topic at length with GPT to see if I can ground my thoughts on the matter. Instead, I've just ventured down a philisophical rabbit hole. The general sentiment of the AI (one that I share) is that adversity for adversity's sake isn't necessarily beneficial. I'm not better than the boomers that came before me that insist If I'm not "working hard", I'm a failure. While there can be value from labor, labor, unto itself, does not have an inherent value outside that which we assign (an arbitrary metric). GPT gave me this slop for your response- "Fair point. There’s value in learning that the world doesn’t revolve around you. But if we’re just tossing people into the grinder and calling it ‘growth,’ we’re not forging character—we’re just toughening hides. Growth requires not just adversity, but reflection, community, and space to process it." A point I'd argued with GPT regarding my skepticism of assigning a bot to a child during their development was thus- "While there will be plenty of guardrails, I can see humanoid bots being the "universal distraction" for the lazy parent, not having the patience to attend to a child and assigning the bot to the child the same way modern humans hand off tablets to their toddlers."
Wrong thread, Anons (let's try >>106, or even /meta). This topic has zero to do with generating/sharing AI art.

Tensegrity Thread Tenssegrity is the purposeful application of tension in a system of non-contact components to provide integrity. These components effectively float on compression provided by tension elements. Tensegrity structures are often formed via rigid rods with a cable defining the spatial relations of the system. Picrel 1 is NASA’s Super Ball Bot, which uses the common 6 bar structure. By altering the lengths of the rods, the “ball” can roll. Please see (https://www.nasa.gov/image-article/super-ball-bot/) Our bodies use tensegrity to provide us with incredible strength, durability, and adaptability. Consider how when you bump into something or fall, you can feel the pressure dissipate throughout large parts of your body. This is due to your muscles, fascia, ligaments, etc… transferring the force throughout your body, protecting the impacted part. You can walk with little effort thanks in part to tensegrity. Your legs joints are all floating, providing low friction movement while distributing the force of impact throughout your entire leg when you step. Please see (http://intensiondesigns.ca/geometry-of-anatomy/) Tensegrity can also be made with elastic elements. These structures are what I believe are best suited for our endeavors. They provide looser tolerance requirements and give her body some squeezability. By incorporating naturally stretchable elements, she can better withstand having an Anon using her. (I speak from experience, though I still broke that torso before taking pictures.) Though there are drawbacks. These designs are deceptively difficult to design correctly. Our requirements for external aesthetics provide unique design requirements that complicate the design phase. I still believe using this concept is objectively correct for us to pursue. A good example to build off of (Debatable whether or not it’s true tensegrity): https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4182634

Datasets for Training AI Robowaifu Technician 04/09/2020 (Thu) 21:36:12 No.2300 [Reply] [Last]
Training AI and robowaifus requires immense amounts of data. It'd be useful to curate books and datasets to feed into our models or possibly build our own corpora to train on. The quality of data is really important. Garbage in is garbage out. The GPT2 pre-trained models for example are riddled with 'Advertisement' after paragraphs. Perhaps we can also discuss and share scripts for cleaning and preparing data here and anything else related to datasets. To start here are some large datasets I've found useful for training chatbots: >The Stanford Question Answering Dataset https://rajpurkar.github.io/SQuAD-explorer/ >Amazon QA http://jmcauley.ucsd.edu/data/amazon/qa/ >WikiText-103 https://blog.einstein.ai/the-wikitext-long-term-dependency-language-modeling-dataset/ >Arxiv Data from 24,000+ papers https://www.kaggle.com/neelshah18/arxivdataset >NIPS papers https://www.kaggle.com/benhamner/nips-papers >Frontiers in Neuroscience Journal Articles https://www.kaggle.com/markoarezina/frontiers-in-neuroscience-articles >Ubuntu Dialogue Corpus https://www.kaggle.com/rtatman/ubuntu-dialogue-corpus >4plebs.org data dump https://archive.org/details/4plebs-org-data-dump-2020-01 >The Movie Dialog Corpus https://www.kaggle.com/Cornell-University/movie-dialog-corpus >Common Crawl https://commoncrawl.org/the-data/
